As the energy pillar surges up into the low-hanging dark clouds, the underside of the clouds is first pushed upward into a huge concave dent, purple-white light spreading through the cloud layer in branching veins; the next instant, the energy core punches through the center of the dent, tearing the thick cloud layer into a spinning funnel shape. The carbon-black smoke membrane rolls downward along the outer edge of the pillar, and together with the white-purple energy piercing the sea of clouds, it blows open a huge, continuously expanding void in the dark clouds.
