Rice Paper on Stone — An Ink-Wash Opening

A flat sheet of rice paper lies still on a weathered stone slab, lit by a single warm candle glow. Its edges begin to char and glow faintly amber, embers crawling inward. Instead of curling outward, the burnt edges fold inward on themselves, guided as if by invisible fingers, folding paper into paper.
